Houston, We have a Heartbeat...

AND a "baby bulge"!

That's right....

We had our first OB appointment on Tuesday. With a lot of hard work and patience on the part of my doctor, we heard a fast beating heart!

To make sure that Noah could distinguish between the baby heartbeat and my own heartbeat, I did a very medically accurate interpretation of the baby's heart beating. It sounded something like...

Chugga Chugga Chugga Chugga

He got the point :)

And I was ever so thrilled to have my doctor admit - out loud - that he felt a baby BULGE! That's what he called it... a BULGE!

And I must concur....

It is a bit of a bulge right now! I'm anxiously awaiting the metamorphosis from bulge to bump! Baby "bumps" are so much cuter than "baby bulges"!

Honestly, I can't believe how quickly that "bulge" has appeared. At this rate, I'll be in maternity clothes next month :)

Lately...

Lately....

I keep noticing the date:

August 24th

It's a Monday this year and apparently is the date that many new TV programs debut because I keep seeing the date in HUGE letters spelled out across my TV screen....

reminding me of the impending date: August 24th...

My birthday.

And this year, it the one in which I turn 35.

And I'm not really looking forward to it!

So, lately, as I anticipate this milestone, I've noticed that....

I'm feeling tired, really tired.

My energy level is completely depleted.

My patience with my children is being tested.... frequently.

I'm starving, yet I don't have much of an appetite.

My face is breaking out.

I'm having strange dreams.

I cry very easily (OK... that's not that much different than normal).

My clothes are tight.

Did I mention that I'm tired... very tired?

All these things could be attributed to that looming date in which I will officially be of an "advanced maternal age"...

OR

they could be attributed to this...

I am choosing to attribute them to the latter :)

While I would like to have kept this exciting news a secret until I actually had an opportunity to visit with my doctor (which will happen 1 week from today), we spilled the beans to Noah....

which means that the beans were then spilled to everyone with whom he comes into contact!

He is so incredibly excited...

and so are we!
